Podcast

I love a good podcast. The voice has a unique ability to resonate deeply within us, and through the simple yet profound act of exchanging words, we can explore the depths of our diverse perspectives. By creating and nurturing spaces for discussions about science, I aim to immerse you in the realm of scientific inquiry. With just the press of a play button, I strive to make science both accessible and engaging. My goal is to weave science into your everyday world, transforming it into a familiar and inviting presence wherever you may be.

Producer & Host

Sound Science Podcast

Good science, meet good tunes. Born of a mutual love of science and music, the Sound Science podcast stems from my belief that science is for everyone and music is a universal language. I produce and host every episode, and each brings you a conversation that will make you hear science differently. Learn about the science stories that affect our lives, and then listen to songs that support the sentiment from those stories.

Sound Science is available via Los Angeles-based Dublab radio and is also available as a podcast from wherever you get your podcasts.

Podcast & Radio Guest

Dreaming Different Podcast (Deem)

Dreaming Different is an exploration of world-building guided by the question: How can we design the future through a neurodivergent lens? Hosted by Jezz Chung, this six-episode podcast series includes conversations with organizers, artists, cultural philosophers, and scientists to explore how a better understanding of neurodiversity—including the language and experiences of it—can help us create cultures that are more inclusive, equitable, accessible, creative, and connected.

Unseen Being (Soho Radio)

Unseen Being is a monthly show from Kinda Studios talking with artists and scientists about what’s happening inside our brains and bodies when we experience the world around us. Each month, Robyn and Katherine explore one of the most overlooked, unseen, and intangible topics that shape how we feel, interact with each other, and move through the world around us. I joined them on the debut episode on sound to talk about how music actually interacts with our brains.

SCI-Arc Podcast

Casual, unscripted, and intimate, The Arc episodes present themed discussions that investigate existing contemporary ideas and attitudes around architecture, juxtaposing them with disciplines and topics outside of architecture. The Arc is a venue for conversation, recorded at the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) in Los Angeles, and led by SCI-Arc faculty and History + Theory Coordinator Marrikka Trotter.

Examining ‘Scale’ through the prevalence of architectural models, I delved into the way that scale is interpreted within the brain.

Whits & Giggles (NTS Radio)

Whits & Giggles is a show about sex. I joined hosts Shelley Holcomb and Whitney Gibson to talk about the science of flirting.

Well Connected Podcast by Murad

With so much misinformation around wellness these days, Murad is connecting the dots between science and wellness, bringing you proven stories on mind, food, body, and skin health (not just unsubstantiated discourse). I was invited to be a guest on their debut episode all about hydration, alongside host Candace Reels, founder of the Female Collective.

Seeing Color Podcast

Seeing Color is a podcast that talks with cultural workers and artists of color in order to expand the area of what is a predominantly white space in the arts. With discussions shifting between art and race, Zhiwan Cheung hashes out a range of topics about the creative process in a white-dominated art world with guests. I joined Zhiwan on the episode to talk about my career as a neuroscientist and why I am such an advocate of interdisciplinary collaboration and science communication.
